LYW Mainstays | Week after week, I share with you how I live the mainstays and I sometimes picture you saying to yourself, “I do those things too! or “that’s it??!” Yes! That’s it. Wellness is not far-flung experiences or expensive concoctions sold to you with the promise of health, wellness or beauty; wellness is the intentional act of simple, everyday gestures that settle you into your life, your self, so you can live well.

This is how I lived the Mainstays this week:
Movement. Gentle stretches; not moving too much as I help my body rest up from a cold.
Rest. Saying “no;” settling back into a home routine; making my bed; not watching the news; staying put.
Nourishment.@capbeauty new wave bone broth; upping my water intake to help wash out a cold; prepping for Hanukkah dinner; hearty soups for breakfast.
Nature. The sound of the rain, the color of the sky reeling me, captivating my attention; big, deep breaths of cold morning air, feeling revitalized.
Relationships. Building Lego creations while I talk with Sawyer; asking for help from my care team; loving John all the way through and telling him; being top nurse to August; taking good care of myself.
Spirit. Meditating with Sawyer on my lap and loving it (there was a time when I couldn’t stand it); recognizing the huge transformation I am in and feeling so grateful.
Expression. Getting back into a rhythm for working and creating; writing with purpose; putting up some holly-jolly all around the house; lighting up the dark nights.
