The Mainstays IRL Vol. 7

Hello Dear, this post will be a bit shorter than usual. We’re getting ready to leave for a trip a few days earlier than planned. The skies of the Bay Area are dangerously smoky from the Camp fire in Paradise, California (over a 150 miles away!), schools were cancelled all over the East Bay and in San Francisco, so we’re going to head south and make the best of it. For those of you who are in the Bay Area or in the paths of the fires, please take good care and keep in touch with your loved ones.

Here’s what the Mainstays looked like this week: 
Movement. Yoga routines 🧘🏻‍♀️ from graduate school that remind me of who I used to be, closing my eyes through the practice to help me listen in; noticing how my body wants to move outside, wishing it could. 
Rest. Feeling the call of Autumn 🍂 to slow down and really enjoying it; short napping after lunch; herbal teas after dinner. 
Nourishment. Mandarins are back in season 😋; @101cookbooks lentil soup; homemade bone broth made from a homemade roasted chicken; planning the menu for Thanksgiving; seaweed and cashews snacks; loads of water to hydrate.💦
Nature. Smokies skies from the Camp Fire, staying indoors because of it; paying extra special care to my houseplants. 🌱 
Relationships. Setting boundaries with loved ones; staying with the feeling and getting to the other side of it; teaching August and Sawyer how to stay with the feeling and defining it; attuning to John; talking with my doctor on how to better rest; spending quality time alone. 
Spirit. Persevering through a challenging work time; prayers for everyone affected by the Camp and Woolsey fires💗; @caverlymorgan chants; loving-kindness meditations at bed time; prayers for rain. 🌧
Expression. Taking in the creativity of others (which includes binge watching @houseofcards); muddling through the creative process for LYW; defining work that works for me.
